Data Protection Statement

We appreciate your interest in our online presence. The protection of your personal data is very important to us. It is possible to use our websites without providing any personal data. Data processing and processing purposes

For each visit to the website of BioMaterialities by a data subject or an automated system, the website collects a series of general data and information. These general data and information are stored on the log files of the server. The following are collected: (1) the type and version of the browser used, (2) the operating system used by the accessing system, (3) the website from which an accessing system reaches our website (HTTP referrer), (4) the subsites that are accessed on our
website via an accessing system, (5) the date and time of access to our website, (6) the Internet Protocol address (IP-address) with the final digits removed to make it anonymous and (7) Amount Of Transmitted Data In Bytes

The anonymous data of the server log files are stored separately from all personal data provided by a data subject.

This website does not uses web analytics tools such “Google Analytics” service.

The log data mentioned in (3) will be erased after one week.

Handling of Personal Data

Personal data is all information which serves to identify you and which can be traced back to you – such as your name, your e-mail address and telephone number.
BioMaterialities only collects and uses personal data if this is permitted by law or if you consent to the collection of data by double opt-in, i.e. also with an e-mail confirmation.

Handling of Contact Data

If you contact BioMaterialities via the contact options offered, your personal data are automatically stored. These personal data, provided voluntarily by you, are stored for the purpose of processing or and answering your enquiry. These personal data are not shared with a third party.

Handling of Comments and Contributions

If you leave a contribution or comment on this website, your IP-address will be saved. This serves the security of BioMaterialities as website Operator – only within the scope of legal obligations.

Erasing and blocking personal data

The personal data collected by us will be processed and saved only for as long as is necessary to achieve the storage purposes or as laws and regulations require. The log data mentioned in (3) will be erased after one week.

Users’ Rights (withdrawal, access, rectification, erasure)

If your data has been processed, you have, according to the law, the right to demand free of charge from BioMaterialities access or confirmation regarding the personal data stored about you.
Upon request, we will inform you which personal data has been stored about you. Moreover, there is a right to the rectification of inaccurate personal data without undue delay. Unless your request conflicts with a legal obligation to store data (e.g. data retention), you have a right to erasure; to restriction of processing and a right to object to processing.

If the use of personal data is based on your consent, you can revoke this consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. Please send an e-mail to biomaterialities(at)hu-berlin.de.

There is a right to keep the personal data you provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and to transmit it to another controller.

After receiving your documents to identify and verify your request we will inform you about the type of data collection. Therefore, please send requests only to biomaterialities(at)hu-berlin.de.
Furthermore without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, complaints can be submitted to a member state supervisory authority if there are any doubts about the lawfulness of the processing of personal data.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are temporarily saved on your terminal device. This website uses a functional cookie, which saves the last used language of the website. With the use of this cookie, we ensure a user-friendly visit to the website, which would not be possible without the cookie setting. The cookie has a lifetime that is limited to the respective session. If the website or the browser is closed, the cookie is deleted. Since the cookie in question is only functional and does not collect and retain any sensitive data of visitors to our website, it does not have to be optionally switchable on and off for users. In all common browsers or with the help of other software, cookies can be deleted at any time.

The legal basis of processing

The processing of personal data is always performed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU-GDPR) and in compliance with the Berlin Data Protection Act (BlnDSG). If the data processing is based on your consent, the processing is lawful pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
Data processing necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are party or in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract is lawful pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (e.g. event registration). If the data processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which BioMaterialities is subject, the processing is lawful according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR (e.g. statutory storage obligations).

If the data processing is necessary in order to protect your vital interests or of another natural person, the processing is lawful according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. d GDPR. As far as the data processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in BioMaterialities, the processing is lawful according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e GDPR (e.g. processing of examinations).

If the data processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by BioMaterialities, the processing of data is lawful pursuant to Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. f GDPR, (e.g. the data processing as listed in 3.), unless your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms, which require the protection of personal data, take precedence.

The data protection measures are always subject to technical innovations. For this reason we ask you to inform yourself about our data protection measures at regular intervals by consulting our data protection declaration.
